Enacting a just and sustainable blue economy through transdisiplinary action research. Building on the concepts of socio-technical transitions, transdisciplinarity and just transitions, this paper argues that a transdisciplinary action research and innovation approach situated in a placed-based quintuple helix stakeholder environment presents a promising avenue to not only analyze but also effect a just and sustainable transition of the blue economy.
